How Often Should You Pressure Wash Your Driveway in Thurston County?

A lot of people ask how often they should get their driveway pressure washed. In places like Tumwater, Yelm, or Rainier, the answer depends on tree cover, weather, and how much traffic your driveway gets.

If you’ve got lots of trees nearby (especially fir or maple), you might need a cleaning once a year. Moss and algae love the shade. Driveways that get full sun can go longer, maybe every two or three years.

Here’s what to look for:

  • Green patches or moss growing in the cracks
  • Slippery surfaces after rain
  • Oil stains or tire marks

Pressure washing removes all of that and helps keep the surface safe. If you’ve got kids riding bikes or older folks using walkers, a clean driveway can prevent slips and falls.

Regular cleaning also helps your driveway last longer. Moss can eat into the concrete and cause it to crack over time. Keeping it clean is cheaper than replacing it.
