We Washed 7 Driveways Around Thurston County – Here’s What We Found

Last month, we cleaned driveways in Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and even out in Union. It was part of a seasonal cleanup push, and we saw everything from moss-covered concrete to oil stains and rust marks.

Here’s what we learned:

  • Driveways under fir trees (lots of them in Shelton and Montesano) get mossy fast
  • People with gravel edges see more weeds creeping in
  • Rust stains are common in sprinkler-heavy areas like South Hill and Spanaway

The good news? A pressure washer with the right surface cleaner can take care of most of it. We also use a light cleaning mix to help break down tough buildup.

One driveway in Kent hadn’t been cleaned in 15 years. The moss was so thick it looked like carpet. But after about an hour, it looked almost new. Even the homeowner couldn’t believe it.

Driveways don’t just look better after a wash. They’re less slippery, which matters for older folks or anyone with kids running around.

If yours is looking green or grimy, don’t wait until it gets worse. A simple clean-up goes a long way.
