When our customers in Lacey, Graham, and South Hill call us, they often ask: “Do I need soft washing or pressure washing?” Most homeowners don’t know the difference, and that’s okay. Here’s how we explain it:

Pressure washing is high pressure, typically with plain clean tapwater. It’s great for hard surfaces like concrete driveways, patios, and sidewalks. The water comes out strong enough to blast away moss, mud, and oil stains. We use it in places like Spanaway and Montesano where moss takes over driveways every winter.
Soft washing is low pressure, often with heated water and/or an environmentally safe solvent. It’s what we use for roofs, siding, and fences. Instead of blasting away the dirt, we apply a cleaning solution that breaks down algae, mildew, and grime. Then we rinse it off with a gentle spray. This is safer for surfaces that can be damaged by high pressure.
We’ve seen people try to pressure wash their siding and end up forcing water behind the panels. That can lead to mold inside the walls. We’ve also seen shingles ripped off when someone used too much pressure on a roof.
The best way to know what your home needs is to ask someone who’s done it before. We’ve cleaned hundreds of homes across Olympia and beyond. We’ll take a look and let you know what makes sense and we’ll explain it in easy terms.
